Where to go next: Admin, Dev, Architect

You now have a working org, can navigate the app, understand the data model, and have built a report and an automation. That's a real foundation. The next question is direction, and Salesforce offers several well-trodden paths that all build on what you've just learned.

The Admin path deepens configuration: security and sharing, advanced automation, data management, and change management. The entry certification is Salesforce Certified Administrator, followed by Advanced Administrator and platform-app-builder credentials. The Developer path adds code — Apex, Lightning Web Components, and integrations — starting with the Platform Developer I certification. Many people do Admin first and then Developer, because understanding the declarative platform makes you a far better developer.

Beyond those, Consultants specialise in a cloud such as Sales Cloud or Service Cloud and focus on translating business requirements into solutions, while Architects design large systems and pursue the demanding Application and System Architect tracks that lead to the prestigious Certified Technical Architect. There are also focused roles in Marketing Cloud, CPQ, Data Cloud, and analytics — several of which have their own courses on this site.

Your concrete next step: pick one path and commit to a first certification. If you're unsure, start with the Administrator credential — it's the broadest foundation and opens the most doors. Work through the matching Trailhead trailmix, keep practising in your Developer org, and build one small end-to-end project you can talk about in interviews. From here, the Apex Masterclass and LWC A–Z courses on this site are natural next stops for the developer track. You've gone from zero; the hero part is just consistent practice from here.
